At Callicroft we feel it is important to learn about the religious and cultural beliefs of different peoples of the world.
We follow the South Gloucestershire Agreed Syllabus and cover this in a two year rolling programme which covers Christianity as well as a range of other religions.
Learning is also incorporated in the creative curriculum where possible.
Pupils have opportunities to visit places of worship and talk to members of faith communities and there are strong links with our local St. Chad’s church. We celebrate the Christian festivals of Harvest, Christmas and Easter at the church and involve the children in all of these. Our Year 6 children hold their Leaver’s Service here at the end of the summer term.
Update of the Year so far
We had our first trip to the church last term, where we celebrated Harvest. Each class had a 5 minute slot to show off something linked to this celebration.
This ranged from a song -'The Wheels on the Bus' from Reception to Poetry and Artwork from Years 3 and 4. It was a fantastic opportunity for the parents to see what fantastic work happens in the school and links well with the community.
Our next trip to the church will be at the end of this term for our Christmas Celebration. Look forward to seeing you there!
