Term 5

I hope you have all had a great Easter break and we have made it to the Summer Term!

Welcome to Term 5 and we are continuing with our topic focusing on Space which is called 'Houston, we have a problem!'

Just a reminder, reading books need to be in school every day but definitely on a Monday. Our PE days are Monday and Thursday so please make sure kit is in school on these days. In Maths this term we are focusing on decimals and percentages for the first 4 weeks of this term. Our Power of Reading book is Cosmic so our outcome for English is to create a Theme Park Brochure. I will continue to update each week.

Have a great week!

Week 2

Well that was a fast week and a great first week for Miss Osbourne in our class. We have designed our own theme park and then built in on our iPad's - the children had great fun creating them. This week, we will have PE on Monday - so please can we make sure PE kits are in school, we had a lot missing last week. We are finishing making our planets on Tuesday, we have already made them out of Paper Mache. We will be continuing to produce a travel brochure about our theme parks and aiming to complete them with pictures by Friday. In maths, we are continuing with decimals and understanding the place value as well as adding and subtracting decimals. Finally, it is Enrichment Day next Friday.

Have a great week!

Week 3

We start the 3rd week of Term 5, already this term has a feeling of this is going to go fast. Tomorrow we will be reading to an adult so please make sure all reading books are in school. After break we have our weekly PE lesson, so PLEASE MAKE SURE KIT IS IN SCHOOL - a lot of children are forgetting it - and if they can't participate, a letter to explain why would be greatly appreciated. For the rest of the week, we are completing our Theme Park travel brochures and then moving onto writing an Alien narrative. We are revisiting being safe on social media and looking at the aurora borealis and creating a piece of artwork for it. We finish the week with Enrichment.

Have a great week!

Week 4

A relatively straight forward week - we start the week with our traditional Monday - Reading, PSHE and Tag Rugby. This week are going to listen and appreciate Gustav Holst Planets, revisit being safe with social media. in Science this week we are understanding the terms of Resistance and Mechanical. To end the week, we are studying the importance of animals in space.

Have a great week!

Week 5

Hope you have had a great Bank Holiday! This week we are completing our Alien Story in English and continuing to understand angles in Geometry. After listening to Holst Planets over the last few weeks, we are going to create our own piece Tuesday afternoon. On Wednesday we are studying the Movement of the Moon in Science.

Have a great week!

Week 6

We are into the final 2 weeks of Term 5, and this week is a very important week for Year 6 - SATs Week! In order to prepare my class for this next week, we are going to have a mock week. we will sit an old paper at exactly the same time and subject as the Year 6's. This will give them the chance to experience test conditions. Please don't panic your child. When we are not having a test we will have a topic lesson based around space. On Monday we will have PE (tag rugby) so please make sure kit is in school.

Have a great week!

Week 7

We have made it to the last week of Term 5. Last week, the children work incredibly hard and completed their mock SATs papers. They have been amazing. This week we are writing our own Space Poems and in Maths we are looking at 3D shapes and making nets. By Friday we will complete 2 paintings inspired by Official NASA Artist Robert McCall.

Have a great week and a fantastic half term break!
