Callicroft Primary Academy

Term 2

Welcome to the Christmas Term, it will be amazing how quickly and busy this term is. There seems to be something happening every week. Our topic this term is Marvellous Mayans, so we will have another huge focus on History. Our PE days are Monday and Thursday so please make sure your child has the correct kit for these days. I will continue to keep you up to date each week, with any keys dates and events happening. Next week is a normal week! One of a very few this term.

Week 2

We had a great first week back, and completed everything we need to achieve! This week is another quiet week considering it is our Christmas term. Tomorrow we will continuing with understanding French vocabulary as well as our Diversity lessons. First thing Tuesday morning we will be having an Art session and learning the skill of sketching. Remember on Wednesday is our Friends 'Glow in the Dark' Disco.

Week 3

Half way through November already, the term is already flying buy. A few timetable changes this week, our PE days are Monday and Tuesday (But for only this week), it will then be Monday and Wednesday.  This week we are looking at square and cubed numbers and dividing by a 2-digit number in maths. in English we are continuing with our book The Chocolate Tree and writing our own folktale. On Tuesday morning we will be having our second attempt at drawing the Mayan Pyramid Chichen Itza.

Week 4

We are half way through the term, and this week we are looking at squared and cubed numbers in multiplication. In English we are planning, drafting and publishing our own folktale about the Mayans. Our PE days this week are MONDAY and WEDNESDAY.  Just a reminder it is Parents Evening this week, so looking forward to seeing you all.

Week 5

Thank you to all parents who attended Parents Evening, its great to have that 1:1 chat, if there was anything forgotten in that 10 minutes, please come and see me. This week is a fairly normal week before the chaos of Christmas. In Maths we are looking at the inverse operations and moving onto Perimeter. In English we are starting a new unit of writing focusing on an information piece all about the Mayans. Our PE days are staying the same, which means that is Monday and Wednesday.

 Week 6

We are nearly there! This week is the start of Christmas. In Maths we are finishing dividing by 10, 100 and 1000 and moving onto perimeter. In English we will be writing, editing and publishing our non-chronological report about the Mayans. Other things happening this week; we are making Hot Chocolate and Tortillas in DT tomorrow morning, on Wednesday we will be making our product for the Christmas Fete and if we need to, we will use Thursday morning to finish them off. Our PE days are the same - MONDAY and WEDNESDAY Remember it is our school's Christmas Fete on Friday after school, so hope to see you there!

Week 7

It is finally CHRISTMAS WEEK! this week will be non-stop fun. We will be making Christmas Cards and Calendars. We are making rainforests in a plastic bottle. We will be watching the KS1 Nativity play too. Basically having a great week.
