Art is split into four key areas.
These key areas consist of: Drawing, Painting, Form and Contextual Studies.
Art is linked to the primary curriculum and focuses on the skills mentioned above. These skills lead up to a final piece of work where pupils apply the skills and knowledge they have learnt.
Pupils use sketchbooks to explore and practice these skills. These books are passed onto the next class where pupils can build on previous learning and progress in their skills.
During reception the children are introduced to all the skills, however it is not as structured and often the children take the lead and experiment with different materials and techniques.
Pupils are given the opportunity to use a range of equipment and materials throughout the key stage and work in a variety of scales.
